A LIFE OF THEIR OWN
My hands
shake
These hands
spread out before me
Shaking
all the time
Quivering,
trembling, spontaneous quirks-
These hands
seem to have a life of their own
Energised
by uncontrollable powers
They defy
my self-willed control
These hands
of mine-
They do
what they like
Quivering,
moving
Spastic
in discordant trembles
Spurting
jets of nervous energy-
My mind
is under control
Tight control
of self-assurance
I assure
myself
I am not
nervous-
But these
hands of mine
They defy
me
They tell
me something else
That I have
no control-
Seeing them,
Shaking
with that life force of their own
Beyond my
control, alive,
Energised
from sources I care less to know about-
