LOVE DISINTEGRATES
Love disintegrates into a thousand shards Of shattered bits of broken
pottery Let lose in a monumental outburst Of stored grievances-
Tired we all are of role playing Pretending
to experience joys long expiated Emotions no longer held tender-
Ripping apart the bare semblance of affectation
Our jangled nerves are exposed Raw and sensitive-
Cold sheets draped over hard surfaces Arms that have grown
cold Hearts that have hardened-
Frozen faces becalmed in twisted anger Refusing with calm stubbornness To
reach out-to heal-
In the sacred secretness Of hidden inner recesses We shed our cold tears-
Love's senseless
babble Has turned our steady studied gravity Into heaving bundles of tumbled naiveties-
Emotions of pain that
hang unto us, Ripping our fragile cages of pretense, Our souls bared for self-assessment -
In otherwise weighty
matters We consider to reconsider In the cold light of reality-
That this road has come to an end In bramble
bushes and thorns Bruised souls, heaving breasts and bleeding hearts-
We extricate our battered emotions With
studied blandness Weeping in quiet corners of unlighted inner confinements-
Our hardened cold hands Hearts beating
with un-abating pain Rubbing to painful rawness; inconsequences-
Of shared humaneness Meeting in the aftermath As
we hope for reprieve from ourselves-
Our weakness, The pride that consumes Refusing to let go-
We commit
by omission Leaving behind only the bitterness Of the moment-
In a refreshing pool Of lingering bitterness
we float in the aftermath Of things that have lost their beauty-
