Silent
Landscapes
Melancholy blankets the land in heavy sadness, Silence of a portentous nature hangs heavy, Beauty
that repels is its irrestible attraction, Is the drapery that cloaks this mournful landscapes-
Virgin land of wildness
untempered, This wild diffusion of life, Sobering in impression, Impressive in its unlimited potential-
I
have seen your giants, Raptoids of incredible strength, Awesome sights, Fearsome in appearance-
I have seen
your little ones, Gregarious bundles of unceasing mischief, Smiles twinkling between bright wide eyes, Full of childish
miff-
I have seen your suppressed humanity, Bedgraggled, subdued, denied and compliant, I have seen the sudden
mirth bursting forth, briefly, Swallowed again by the overwhelming sadness-
These landscapes of sorrow, The gloom
of silent despair Delicate beauty of limited engagement, Canopies bowed as though in some leftover afternoon dream-
I
have seen the glow of innocent joy, Like sun's ray filtered down these green draperies, Suddenly quenched, Virgin
forests sprung up from below rising to meet blanched sky, Up from these bleached soils-
